The mission of Amal Youth and Family Centre is to provide a range of innovative services responsive to the needs of individuals, families and communities. Position Summary
Safety and Operations Coordinator (Full-Time, Permanent)
As this is a newly established position, compensation will be determined based on the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications.
We are seeking a hands-on Safety and Operations Coordinator to lead the day-to-day execution and continuous improvement of our safety program and property portfolio.
This is an operational role, not just advisory. The successful candidate will actively conduct inspections, investigations, property oversight, and vendor coordination while working closely with HR and leading our OHS Committees.
Key Responsibilities
Health & Safety

  • Lead and maintain the organization’s OHS program
  • Chair the organizations OHS Committees
  • Conduct workplace inspections
  • Conduct internal audits
  • Investigate incidents and track corrective actions
  • Maintain safety policies, training records, and compliance documentation
  • Ensure compliance of WorkplaceNL requirements for large employers
  • Support HR with tasks and processes related to workplace injuries
  • Ensure required documentation and records meet regulatory requirements
 
Facilities, Property & Assets
  • Oversee safety and maintenance of residential properties
  • Ensure compliance of items such as fire extinguishers, smoke detectors etc.
  • Build and manage landlord relationships
  • Lead sourcing of new rental properties
  • Coordinate vendors and repairs
  • Oversee maintenance of leased and owned vehicles
  • Maintain capital asset inventory and tracking
     
What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
  • Post-secondary education in Occupational Health & Safety, Facilities Management, or a related field preferred
  • 3-7 years of hands-on OHS and/or facilities/property management experience
  • Working knowledge of Newfoundland and Labrador’s OHS legislation
  • Working knowledge of WorkplaceNL’s PRIME PATH 2 for large employers

Skills & Competencies
  • Experience with safety committees and incident investigations
  • Strong organizational and follow through skills
  • Practical and hands-on
  • Comfortable working independently and managing competing priorities
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining or improving a safety program
  • Experience coordinating property maintenance and external vendors
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites
  • Experience in multi-site environments is an asset
