Position: Outreach and Engagement Coordinator – WRDC

 

Created in 1997, Women in Resource Development Corporation (WRDC) is a provincial non-profit organization committed to increasing women's participation in trades and technology. With private and public funding, WRDC offers a variety of programs and services to address the challenges surrounding the attraction, recruitment, retention and advancement of women in these careers. Our charitable arm, the Educational Resource Centre (ERC), was created in 2002, to provide hands-on learning and career exploration opportunities for younger women and girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Career Development, the Outreach and Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing partnerships within the communities throughout the province with the objective of recruiting clients to participate in career development programming. They will maintain all community outreach activities and will work closely with the management team to develop and implement initiatives that increase WRDC's visibility among its clients, partners, stakeholders and potential collaborators. The Outreach and Engagement Coordinator will continue to meet the outreach goals and objectives for increasing awareness about WRDC's mandate and services in the province. The successful candidate will enjoy meeting new people, building networks, and educating people about WRDC services and opportunities.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Deliver, implement, coordinate, and evaluate approved programming to ensure program requirements are met and WRDC-ERC standards, guidelines and policies are maintained
  • Plan and implement outreach activities including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities
  • Travel throughout the province to promote programs and services offered by WRDC
  • Conduct information sessions virtually and in person throughout NL as a means of expanding WRDC’s reach
  • Build and sustain relationships with current, new, and potential collaborating organizations and clients through meetings, networking opportunities, communications and events
  • Coordinate the logistics of meetings and events – which includes meeting/event venues, communication, agendas, minutes, etc.
  • Serve as the lead contact for all outreach communication
  • Prepare and present an annual budget to the management team for community outreach activities
  • Communicate outreach updates, as well as status and summary reports, to the Director and/or stakeholders on a regular basis
  • Educate employers, students, agencies, members of the public, and not-for-profits about WRDC's mission and service through meetings and presentations as appropriate
  • Other duties as requested

 

Qualifications and Requirements

  • University Degree or College Diploma in a related discipline
  • Relevant work experience in community outreach considered an asset
  • Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
  • Ability to establish connections and build long-term relationships to work collaboratively with businesses, industry associations, government, education institutions, indigenous groups, and community organizations
  • Ability to collaborate with people remotely using virtual platforms
  • High regard for confidentiality, quality, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, collaborate and work effectively in a team environment; flexibility to meet workload demands
  • Related experience in the not-for-profit sector and demonstrated working knowledge of community-based programs, including project development, coordination, and management considered an asset
  • Related experience in women centered organizations is considered an asset
  • Certificate of Conduct and Vulnerable Sector Check is required upon employment and every two years there after

  • Travel is required for this Travel expenses will be covered in accordance with WRDC policies.

 

Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 per annum. WRDC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. Starting salary will commensurate with experience and skills.
