The Board of Trade is deeply concerned about the impact of the newly implemented 25% U.S. tariffs on our economy. With businesses already struggling under compounding rising costs, this added burden makes it even harder for businesses to stay afloat and support jobs that so many families rely on.
We urge the federal government to work swiftly to mitigate the impact on businesses while finding a solution that protects our industries and keeps our important trade ties and relationship with the United States strong.
In the face of these challenges, we also encourage consumers to support local businesses and products whenever possible. Every dollar spent locally helps strengthen our economy, sustain jobs, and build a more resilient Newfoundland and Labrador. Now more than ever, we need to come together.
