Rebecca Rose is the President and Publisher of Breakwater Books, Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier publishing house since 1973. She purchased Jesperson Press in 2002 and purchased Breakwater in 2009. She co-founded Ochre Fest in 2012, a cultural festival showcasing literature, music, and art. In 2017, she acquired Creative Book Publishing, a cultural investment representing the largest acquisition of this kind in the province’s history. Rebecca was a nominee for the 2019 YWCA’s Women of Distinction Award and was the winner of NLOWE’s Entrepreneurial Excellence Award in 2024. Rebecca has served as President of the Atlantic Publishers Marketing Association, board member of the Association of Canadian Publishers, board member of LitDistCo, and Chair of the Board of the Literary Press Group of Canada.
