Advantage St. John’s amplifies economic growth in Newfoundland and Labrador’s Capital Region by leading regional economic development and promoting the area as a prime business destination. Formed through a partnership of Conception Bay South, Paradise, and St. John’s, it provides resources, programs, and guidance for businesses to thrive.
The organization maintains and shares the Region’s value proposition with key stakeholders locally and abroad, working with local partners to develop and execute the regional economic development strategy. It focuses on attracting new businesses, investment, and talent, particularly in technology, oceans, aerospace, defence, and energy sectors, which are strategically positioned for growth.
The Capital Region boasts the highest proportion of educated residents per capita in Canada, with innovative, creative, and loyal talent. Its unique location between North America and Europe makes it ideal for scaling companies entering new markets.
The Region features two ice-free, deep-water ports, an international airport, unique harsh environment, cold water ocean technology research facilities, and a Top 5 National Research University (by research dollars). Over 90% of its electricity comes from clean, hydroelectric sources.
The Region’s rich history is complemented by nearly 350 km of coastal hiking trails, a vibrant downtown, and a walking/biking trailway connecting communities throughout the Region and Province.
