Company Description
Since 2002, Dallas Mercer Consulting Inc. (DMC) has been a trusted leader in disability management, helping organizations across Canada manage sick leave, workers' compensation claims, and return-to-work programs.

Headquartered in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, with a growing presence nationwide, DMC is an entrepreneurial, people-focused company, passionate about guiding clients through the complexities of employee absence–whether work-related or personal.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic Director of Sales and Business Development to lead our growth strategy across Canada. This is a unique “player-coach” role: you will lead and inspire a high-performing sales and marketing team while also rolling up your sleeves to personally drive new business, close high-value deals, and expand DMC’s national footprint.

Reporting directly to the Founder & CEO, this role is ideal for an entrepreneurial sales leader who thrives on strategy, execution, and making a measurable impact.

To be successful in this role, the Director must be able to regularly travel to, and spend dedicated time at, DMC’s head office in Mount Pearl, NL or our regional office in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Therefore, preference will be given to candidates living in or close to these areas.

This connection to our head office and leadership team is essential to understanding our business, culture, and clients.

Key Responsibilities
• Market Expansion: Grow DMC’s presence throughout Canada while enhancing its strong reputation in Atlantic Canada.
• Direct Sales Execution: Personally manage and close high-value opportunities, building trusted relationships with executives and decision-makers, and contributing directly to revenue growth.
• Quota Accountability: Carry an individual sales target in addition to team goals, ensuring accountability for both personal and organizational results.
• Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and coach sales and marketing staff to ensure team success in selling value and differentiating DMC’s offerings.
• Marketing & Branding: Collaborate with the Manager of Marketing to develop and implement effective strategies that drive lead generation and brand visibility.
• Strategic Planning: Lead the creation of the sales and marketing plan, aligning with DMC’s 3-year strategic plan and setting clear objectives and timelines.
• Pipeline Management: Maintain a healthy personal and team pipeline by actively prospecting, qualifying, and nurturing opportunities, while delivering regular performance reports.
• Proposal Development: Lead and oversee the development of proposals, RFP responses, and presentations, ensuring DMC’s value proposition is compelling and client-focused.
• Customer Experience: Collaborate with internal teams to ensure exceptional client experiences that support retention and referrals.
• Strategic Partnerships: Identify, develop, and negotiate partnerships that support long-term growth and market access.
• Leadership Contributions: Provide insights on market trends, competitor activity, and emerging opportunities to inform DMC’s senior leadership team.

Qualifications
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will bring:
• Master’s degree (preferred) or equivalent experience, with a minimum of six years in leadership roles in sales, marketing, or business development within a knowledge-based service industry.
• Proven success in driving growth and executing effective sales and marketing strategies in a service-based environment.
• Experience in sales, branding, marketing, and business development, with preference for candidates with background in disability management, healthcare, or workplace compensation.
• Experience working in entrepreneurial, founder-led environments, building teams with a “people first” leadership style.
• Track record in implementing and utilizing CRM systems to enhance sales processes, reporting, and efficiency.
• Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and deliver results.
• Collaborative, integrity-based team player with strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
• Flexibility and commitment to attend industry events and client meetings.
• Demonstrated ability to prospect, build relationships, and personally close new business opportunities with consistent sales performance.
• Executive presence and confidence in presenting to and negotiating with C-suite leaders.
• A results-oriented mindset with resilience and self-motivation, able to balance strategic planning and hands-on selling.

Why Join DMC?
At DMC, you’ll have the unique opportunity to work directly with our Founder & CEO, Dallas Mercer, who started the company in 2002 and has built it into a trusted national leader in disability management and occupational health & safety.
