Position Overview:
 
Atlantic Grocery Distributors Ltd. is looking for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for customers to join our market-leading sales team in St. John’s, NL. AGD is the leading broadline grocery and foodservice distributor in Newfoundland and Labrador, servicing over 2200 customers and counting. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, customer focused, driven to exceed sales targets, and able to work effectively both independently, and as part of a team. We’re looking for a self-starting team player who enjoys making connections, growing their assigned business, and generating leads on new business opportunities within the assigned territory
 
Job Responsibilities
  • Proven track record exceeding sales targets in a defined region or customer segment Demonstrate strong sales, negotiation, and partnering skills to identify customer needs and provide AGD product solutions that support mutual growth
  • Become fully proficient in Power Net, including data entry, order management, and quote preparation.
  • Review customer orders to identify opportunities for add-ons and increased sales penetration.
  • Manage time and territory effectively, maintaining strong organization and follow-through. Build and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external customers, communicating clearly in all interactions.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Develop and deliver business presentations to support new customer acquisition.
  • This role is primarily field based, with the expectation that the successful candidate spends the majority of their time on the road visiting customers with a home office to be used as needed.
Qualifications
  • Experience with and demonstrated proficiency with MS Office applications (such as MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to quickly learn new systems
  • Ability to work well with deadlines
  • Previous experience in the Retail or Food Service Industry would be a definite asset
  • Must hold a valid driver's license
  • Clear Criminal Record Check
  • Overnight travel will be required on times
  • Ability to resolve client concerns
  • Ability to develop and deliver business presentations to gain new customers
  • Company vehicle or vehicle allowance provided
  • This position is based out of St. John’s with additional territory growth potential
