The Opportunity 

 

As a valued member of our Operations Engineering Team, you will plan, develop, implement and maintain Newfoundland Power’s dam safety management program.

 

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • The management of Newfoundland Power’s external consultant dam safety reviews and the completion of internal dam safety reviews.
  • Developing, reviewing and maintaining dam safety emergency plans and procedures as well as public safety measures around hydro power facilities.
  • Maintaining an asset management database to establish a risk-based prioritization framework to track the condition, maintenance and rehabilitation activities for all dam-related infrastructure.
  • Project management of small civil capital projects relating to dam safety upgrades.
  • Assistance in the capital budget process by completing condition assessments, budget estimates and providing feedback for future capital budget submissions.

 

Your qualifications include a bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil) or a Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, supplemented by experience in dam safety, the hydroelectric industry and/or the heavy civil industry. In addition, you are a highly motivated team player with strong project management skills, excellent inter-personal skills, effective written and verbal communication skills, you have a strong commitment to safety and are proficient in the Microsoft suite of programs. You must hold a valid driver’s license.
