Statement from the St. John's Board of Trade

Statement on the dispute between St. John’s Sports and Entertainment and Deacon Sports and Entertainment and its impact on local business
November 2, 2021

The St. John’s Board of Trade is urging the City of St. John’s and Deacon Sports and Entertainment to find a way to allow the Newfoundland Growlers to play at Mary Browns Centre while the workplace investigation is being conducted.
The St. John’s Board of Trade believes that all employees have a right to a safe and respectful workplace and, as such, the investigation should be conducted as thoroughly and efficiently as possible.
While respecting the rights of employees, we encourage the parties to explore all opportunities to resume business operations during this investigation to minimize the immediate and future economic harm being placed on the business community and taxpayers of St. John’s.
