Job Title:                      Associate Director of Programs and Research

Location:                      St. John’s, NL

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Associate Director of Programs and Research is a critical member of the executive leadership team. This role encompasses broad responsibility, including overseeing the strategic development and evaluation of client service programs, securing new funding sources, and providing oversight for research initiatives within the organization. The role will also be accountable for stakeholder relationships with Federal and Provincial funders, as well as local and national partnerships. The expertise of the Associate Director of Programs and Research in program management, research, and data-driven decision-making will be crucial in driving impactful newcomer-focused initiatives, and ensuring compliance with funder contribution agreements and financial constraints in collaboration with program delivery teams. 

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of new programs that align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals, addressing evolving newcomer community needs and program improvements
  • Provide oversight on the organization’s contribution agreements to ensure compliance, including the management of financial expenditures 
  • Identify and pursue new funding opportunities, and lead the development and submission of high-quality proposals that highlight the organization’s social impacts
  • Collaborate with program leads to oversee the timely completion/submission of narrative and data funder reports; monthly, quarterly, and fiscal year-end 
  • Gather qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate program outcomes, identify best practices, and inform continuous improvement 
  • Build strong relationships with government representatives, funding partners, community and other key stakeholders locally, provincially, and nationally focused on advancing the vision of the Association
  • Support or act on behalf of the Executive Director on local, provincial, and national committees, and media relations, and act as liaison with community partners
  • Stay informed of emerging trends, research, and best practices in program development and community services to drive innovation and improvement in our offerings
  • Oversee and research activities that broaden the local knowledge base related to immigration, refugees, multiculturalism, etc. at the local, provincial, regional, and/or federal level  
  • Develop position briefs for a variety of audiences including government, community organizations, and other stakeholders 
  • Participate in organizational planning sessions with the senior management team and collaborate on setting the division’s work plans as it relates to contribution agreements   
  • Participate in the development of the organisation’s strategic plan
