DESCRIPTION:In partnership with the Institute of Corporate Directors\, Gardiner Centre and the St. John's Board of Trade will host a morning session entitled\, Directors' Dilemma: A Culture of Bullying and Intimidation - the Board's Role followed by a luncheon with Paul Haggis\, Activist Director.\n\n\n\nThe Directors' Dilemma is an interactive session focusing on one area of board ambiguity: bullying and intimidation in the workplace. Participants will have the opportunity to exercise their director skills as they deal with this complex governance problem. Acting as a special board committee of a fictitious company and presented with a set of facts in a case study\, you and your fellow committee members will devise a course of action for the full board. He is currently Chair of the Alberta Enterprise Corporation\, Chair of the Audit Committee of Advantage Energy of Calgary\, Director and Audit Chair of Home Capital Group\, Director of Sunshine Village Corporation\, and advisory board member and limited partner in CAI Capital's Firethorn Fund and Balfour Pacific. He recently retired as Governance Chair and Special Committee member of Pure Industrial Real Estate Trust.\n\n \n\nHe began his financial career in the banking sector. Following nine years in corporate banking\, Mr. Haggis joined Metropolitan Life\, finishing as Chief Operating Officer of Canadian operations. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)\, was a founding director and interim CEO of the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSPIB) and CEO of the Alberta Treasury Branches (ATB Financial).
